Keith Webster of Smith Mcquiston Webster Funeral Home Shares Inspiring Journey

Fountain City, IN – March 11, 2025 – Keith Webster, the dedicated owner of Smith Mcquiston Webster Funeral Home, recently joined Alfredo Diamond on The Diamond Podcast to share his remarkable journey from a curious child to a respected funeral director and business owner. In this heartfelt and inspiring episode, Webster opens up about his passion for serving families, the challenges of entrepreneurship, and the importance of community and family values.

A Lifelong Calling

Keith Webster’s journey into the funeral industry began at a young age. After attending his grandmother’s funeral as a child, he became fascinated with the role of funeral directors in helping families navigate their most difficult moments. This early exposure, combined with a pivotal experience in high school, solidified his decision to pursue a career in funeral service.

“I stood on the front porch of the funeral home I own now and said, ‘This is what I’m going to do,’” Webster shared during the podcast. “And I really never looked back.”

Building a Legacy

Webster’s career took him from Madison, Indiana, where he built a successful funeral home from the ground up, to returning to his hometown of Richmond to acquire the historic Smith Mcquiston Webster Funeral Home in 2005. His story is one of resilience, faith, and the importance of staying true to one’s roots.

“I wanted to come back to my hometown community and do what I love,” Webster explained. “It’s about serving families during their most challenging times and being there for them in a meaningful way.”

A Message of Preparation and Compassion

During the podcast, Webster emphasized the importance of pre-planning for end-of-life arrangements. He shared practical advice for families, encouraging them to have open conversations about their wishes and to make arrangements in advance to ease the burden on loved ones.

“Dying doesn’t have to be expensive,” Webster said. “Making a plan and talking about it with your family is the best thing you can do. Avoiding it only makes things harder.”

Inspiring the Next Generation

Webster also reflected on the impact he hopes to have on future generations. Recalling a poignant moment when he served a grieving school community, he expressed his hope that someone in the crowd might be inspired to follow in his footsteps.

“I hope there’s somebody out there who wants to be like that guy someday,” Webster said. “Because I’m looking for them.”

A Community Advocate

Beyond his work in funeral service, Webster is a passionate advocate for his community. He shared his thoughts on the importance of local pride and the need for collective efforts to drive positive change in Richmond.

“I wish people had more pride in their town,” Webster said. “It’s about taking care of what’s right in front of us and working together to make our community stronger.”
